Legal Counsel Procurement & Technology

Description

Key responsibilities:
  • Providing expert legal advice on licensing, outsourcing, consulting, procurement and similar engagements with technology, service and other third party providers, including negotiating contracts with vendors;
  • Advising on technology, data security and data protection matters;
  • Participation in vendor related risk analyses, advising on process issues (e.g., confidentiality agreements and RFPs); and integration of policy and practice objectives of other corporate divisions (e.g., corporate information security and privacy);
  • Supporting management of corporate intellectual property activities, including registration and disputes;
  • Participating in corporate and business unit projects, strategic initiatives and M&A activities relating to procurement or technology across Company's global operations;
  • Role may expand to include management of a small team (approximately 3) of procurement lawyers based in Poland;
  • Advising and conducting due diligence on technology and sourcing matters for acquisitions, joint ventures and other initiatives;
  • Monitoring and identifying procurement and technology related regulatory risks and issues and providing solutions to minimize corporate exposure;
  • Special projects as requested.
Requirements:
  • Master’s Degree in Law;
  • Qualified to practice law in Poland or another European jurisdiction;
  • 8-10 years of relevant work experience, including substantial experience of multi-jurisdictional procurement and licensing contractual negotiations;
  • Fluent in English; ideally speaks one other European language at a sufficiently proficient level to operate in a business environment;
  • Good team player who works collaboratively in a multi-disciplinary and multi-jurisdictional environment, able to communicate credibly and clearly with senior stakeholders in a large global firm.
  • Attention to detail, diligence, ability to perform tasks independently, logical thinking
  • Subject matter expertise in technology licensing, outsourcing and strategic relationships;

•    Strong understanding of intellectual property and data protection, including a good working understanding of the EU General Data Protection Regulation and its application to vendor relationships and IT systems;
•    Experience of managing staff, service providers and senior business stakeholders in multiple jurisdictions;
•    Superior communication, client service, drafting and writing skills and attention to detail; and 
•    Good team player who works collaboratively in a multi-disciplinary and multi-jurisdictional environment, able to communicate credibly and clearly with senior stakeholders in a large global firm.
