In the Zalando logistics centre being built in Gryfino, near Szczecin, jobs will be taken up not only by warehouse workers, but also by IT, HR and traffic specialists.

The German internet trade giant will employ 1,000 people in various posts. Spring Professional Poland, part of The Adecco Group, is responsible for recruitment.

A challenge for the best

“It will be necessary to hire not just IT specialists, but also traffic and HR people,” says Andrzej Bibik, Engineering Consultant at Spring Professional. Our expert stresses that finding candidates, while a challenge, is certainly possible. “Zalando is a huge international brand, and working there could be a career trampoline for many specialists,” he says.

Spring Professional is Zalando’s exclusive external partner for recruiting middle and upper level employees.

Recruitment began in January, and further announcements will be appearing until the end of this year. The logistics centre near Szczecin, with an area of about 130,000 m2, will be one of the largest managed by Zalando, apart from three in various parts of Germany.

“At the moment, Poland is a very attractive region for such investments,” says Andrzej Bibik.  “We have staff that are very well prepared, and the costs of creating this type of enterprise are very competitive compared with other countries in Europe.”

The e-commerce market in Poland is growing very rapidly. A strategic location, better and better road infrastructure, proximity to the German market and potential employees were key to the decision on where to locate the new logistics centre.

Global giant by the Polish sea

Zalando is one of the world’s biggest internet stores, and currently employs more than 11,000 workers around the globe. The shop is primarily known for its pro-customer approach and the high quality of its services. Every month, it ships several million parcels in 15 European countries.

According to data published by the Central Statistical Office, the official unemployment rate in Poland was 8.6 percent in January, one of the lowest levels ever recorded. In the province of Western Pomerania, the rate was 11.5 percent.
